Escrow Management Specialist

What you will do:

The Escrow Management Specialist will be part of our dynamic Real Estate Servicing Team. The Escrow Management Specialist will perform all escrow processing transactions to ensure accurate and timely disbursement of escrow funds for Real Property Tax, Homeowners and Flood Insurance, and Private Mortgage Insurance. This position will work directly with insurance and tax vendors to resolve any exceptions that impact day-to-day processing. The Escrow Management Specialist will be considered a subject matter expert and assist our members with inquiries on the escrow account. Strong customer service and time management skills are essential for this position, as they are needed to support both direct and indirect channels in response to business needs for SECU. In addition, team members will also cross collaborate with related lending units in all aspects of loan servicing.

The Escrow Management Specialist adheres to regulations and organizational policies, maintaining awareness and knowledge required to perform the duties of the position, including all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act and related regulations, such as OFAC, and the USA Patriot Act, Fair Lending and Information Security.

A day in your life might include:

  • Track and disburse Mortgage Escrow Payments to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations to include Tax, Insurance, PMI, Ground Rent, Front Foot.
  • Communicate with members regarding their Escrow Account including changes to the payment amount, payment history, and PMI Removal.
  • Track Delinquent and Past Due Tax and Insurance Premiums to prevent negative member and lender impact.
  • Analyze and review reports and data to resolve issues and maintain tax and insurance information with vendors based on procedures and with management oversight.

Additional Responsibilities may include:

  • Perform Annual Escrow Analysis Validation.
  • Review accounts for PMI Termination.
  • Reconcile vendor data against Credit Union data.
  • Perform scheduled validation of insurance policies to ensure sufficient insurance coverage is in place.
  • Create, format, and publish Excel spreadsheets for GL reconciliation and other reporting duties.
  • Additional job-related projects and duties as assigned by management.

What we need from you:

Education Requirements

  • High School Degree or equivalent required

Experience Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in Tax, Insurance, or PMI Premium Payments, required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Homeowner’s Protection Act, preferred.
  • Knowledge of lender requirements regarding Flood Insurance, preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Annual Escrow Disclosure and impact on monthly mortgage payment, preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), required.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and analytical skills.
  • Ability to understand and execute tasks within the Service Level Agreements (SLAs), preferred.
  • Ability to adjust to shifting priorities.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

Compensation Information: Offers will be commensurate with experience and education.

  • Hourly Rate: Min. $21.35 – Max. $32.02 (Budget for this position is $21.35-$28.00 per hour depending on experience).
