What you will do:
The Governance Analyst provides essential support to the VP, BSA & Compliance in administering SECU’s Governance, Risk, and Compliance programs. This role supports daily operations to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance while playing a critical role in helping to strengthen, mature, and scale these programs in alignment with the organization’s continued growth.
The Governance Analyst adheres to regulations and organizational policies, maintaining awareness and knowledge required to perform the duties of the position, including all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act and related regulations, such as OFAC, and the USA Patriot Act, Fair Lending and Information Security.
A day in your life might include:
Governance Program Support
• Provides expert insight and analysis on effectiveness, trends and emerging risks to support the governance program development and maturity.
• Prepares comprehensive monthly reporting, dashboards and presentations for department, management, committee and board.
• Supports SECU’s Business Continuity, Incident Response, and Disaster Recovery Programs.
• Maintains all program policies, procedures and working documents to ensure accuracy by leading appropriate review schedules, documenting updates, and presenting recommendations to management for approval.
• Oversees SECU’s policy management software solution and workflows.
• Maintains policy inventory and SECU policy repository.
• Supports audit and coordinates exam governance processes. Serves as a main point of contact for audit and examiners.
• Acts as trusted advisor for Governance, Compliance and ERM Programs and initiatives.
ERM Program Support
• Facilitates coordination across departments on process improvements, operational changes and remediation efforts required to mitigate risk.
• Ensures documentation of remediation efforts is accurate and compliant.
• Completes appropriate risk assessments for governance department.
• Supports efforts of Operational Risk Analyst in remediating risks and documents remediation.
Compliance Program Support
• Supports daily responsibilities and monitoring of SECU’s Compliance Management System, including Fair Lending monitoring and compliance program reporting.
• Develops compliance review templates and procedures.
• Serves as subject matter expert by providing sound compliance/regulatory guidance, research and resources to management and staff, consulting with legal counsel as required.
• Partners with business line leadership to support resolution of compliance issues.
• Assists with the review of SECU policies and procedures.
• Fosters a culture of compliance and legal awareness organizationally, remains aware of risks facing SECU and the industry.
• Supports SECU projects and initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities may include:
• Support complaint management and policy review processes.
• Interact and support CUSO partners and credit union partners.
• Serve on Capital Area Compliance Roundtable (CACR) to represent SECU.
What we need from you:
Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Certified Credit Union Compliance Officer (CUCO) Certification or Certified Regulatory Compliance (CRCM) Certification required or must be obtained within the first year of employment
Experience Requirements
• 3-5 years’ experience working at a financial institution
• 3-5 years of demonstrated responsibility in a compliance, risk or governance role
• Experience in Regulatory Compliance (to include Fair Lending compliance) preferred
• Credit Union experience preferred but not required
Business Acumen Requirements
• Demonstrates an understanding of SECU’s culture, core values, mission, and strategic priorities as they relate to Governance, Risk, and Compliance activities.
• Applies knowledge of regulatory requirements, risk management principles, and compliance frameworks to support effective decision-making and daily operations.
• Interprets data, documentation, and audit findings to identify trends, assess impact, and recommend process improvements.
• Collaborates effectively across departments, recognizing how Governance, Risk, and Compliance programs intersect with operational functions throughout the organization.

Compensation Information: Offers will be commensurate with experience and education. Please Note: We typically hire at or below mid-point, which is $95,000 for this role.
• Salary: Min. $73,800 – Max. $118.000
