What you will do:
The Secondary Marketing Specialist will be directly and indirectly responsible for both production and administrative aspects of mortgage lending. This involves coordinating and collaborating across SECU, S3, and external relationships. The individual in this role will need to develop trust and strong working relationships with many different stakeholders. This person will serve as an SME and be a collaborative partner who works to achieve the best outcomes possible. This role involves being reliable, honest, and transparent in relationships and partnerships within the organization. The individual will be faced with many difficult decisions where there may be multiple possible outcomes. It will be necessary to assimilate available information and arrive at decisions which align with SECU’s core values. To fulfill the requirements of this role, the individual will develop relationships across SECU and S3 resulting in strong collaboration and productive interactions. It will be important to demonstrate empathy, compassion, and emotional intelligence in interactions and decision making.

The Secondary Marketing Specialist adheres to regulations and organizational policies, maintaining awareness and knowledge required to perform the duties of the position, including all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act and related regulations, such as OFAC, and the USA Patriot Act, Fair Lending and Information Security.

A day in your life might include:
• Managing all aspects of the lock desk including providing sales and processing support; assisting with and validating rate locks; monitoring and managing rate lock pipeline; and daily rate distribution.
o Monitoring and validation: Manage the lock desk, including processing and validating rate locks, changes, and exception requests; review pipeline to ensure accuracy and compliance with policy.
o Reporting and analysis: Prepare and analyze reports on pipeline management and rate lock activity.
o Sales and processing support: Provide first line of direct support to the sales and processing teams regarding pricing and lock policies, and related system functions.
o Operational support: Prepare and distribute daily rate sheets to sales team and operations.
o Compliance verification: Ensure rate locks and pipeline are in compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

• Preparing and delivering loans to external investors for purchase; ensuring all investor requirements are met; working with internal and external stakeholders to resolve any purchase deficiencies; tracking progress towards purchase; coordinate purchases
o Collect and prepare loan documentation: Collect, prepare, and assemble loan documentation and data required to support the sale and transfer of loans to external investors.
o Compliance verification: Ensure all loan files comply with investor guidelines and regulatory requirements.
o Building and maintaining relationships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal departments and investors.
o Coordination with stakeholders: Work closely with internal departments and investors to facilitate the loan sale process.
o Monitoring and tracking: Track the progress of loan deliveries and address and resolve any issues that may arise during the process.
o Communication: Regularly communicate with investors to keep them informed about loan delivery statuses and address any concerns.
o Loan sale coordination: Communicate and coordinate loan sales with internal stakeholders

Additional Responsibilities may include:
• Actively participate in business initiative and/or projects in varying roles across departments and divisions i.e. subject matter expert (SME)
• Assist in audit preparation and be a SME for questions arising during audits

Other duties will be required.

What we need from you:

Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field preferred.
• Relevant certifications, coursework, and experience in mortgage banking are a plus.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in mortgage banking, secondary marketing, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of mortgage pricing and/or loan delivery, highly desired.
  • Proficiency in Excel and MS Office suite
  • Familiarity with mortgage loan origination systems and pricing engines.
  • Able to lead through influence in a highly matrixed environment
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities [critical thinking]
  • Excellent quantitative skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability and openness to effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners/investors
  • Strong interpersonal skills for managing relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners/investors
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to quickly reprioritize work based on changing business needs and market conditions
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity

Physical Requirements
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

Compensation Information: Offers will be commensurate with experience and education. The full salary range for this grade is $73,800 - $118,000, but the budget for this role is $73,800-$95,000.
