Procurement Specialist

Location: Linthicum, MD

This person will need to reside within commuting distance to our Linthicum, MD Headquarters. Will need to come into the office 1 - 2 times per month.

What you will do:
The Procurement Specialist will provide strategic sourcing, contracting, and contract management support for assigned commodities, departments, and corporate functions as necessary, in support of the credit union’s general operations and enhancing member satisfaction. The position exists to develop sourcing plans and specifications, solicitation requests, tactical negotiation plans, and assemble sourcing teams as needed, and draft, negotiate, and manage contracts and/or license agreements in order to retain and utilize valuable terms and condition provisions and prevent unnecessary liabilities from occurring. The role evaluates and monitors contracts and license agreements for effectiveness and supplier performance, manages corporate contracts as assigned, and services department commodity, service, and software needs by providing guidance and consulting to them during all phases of the acquisition and contracting processes.

The Procurement Specialist adheres to regulations and organizational policies, maintaining awareness and knowledge required to perform the duties of the position, including all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act and related regulations, such as OFAC, and the USA Patriot Act, Fair Lending and Information Security.

A day in your life might include:
• Works closely with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure alignment with procurement goals.
• Identify cost-savings opportunities, analyzing procurement data, and optimizing purchasing strategies.
• Ensuring compliance with procurement policies and regulations, and mitigating potential legal, regulatory and reputational risks.
• Identifying and resolving issues related to procurement, such as supplier delays, quality issues or missed SLAs.
• Creates and conducts formal solicitations, such as RFQs and RFPs.
• Conducts formal RFIs to gain additional insights into the vendor(s).
• Oversees the acquisition of a wide range of products and/or services.
• Educates department stakeholders on the procurement process and policy as needed.
• Makes decisions to determine when sourcing approaches are/are not appropriate.

What we need from you:

Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree
• Procurement certification, such as CPM, CPSM, CTPS or CTPE preferred but not required
• Proficient in the Microsoft suite
• Experience with procure to pay software preferred but not required

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years in Procurement, purchasing or supply chain management.
  • Has managed multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Contract writing and negotiation
  • Understanding and utilization of RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs
  • Takes personal responsibility for decisions, actions, failures and overall deliverables
  • Utilizes oral and written communication to enhance relationships across the organization
  • Clearly communicates information, thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise and organized manner
  • Relates comfortably with people across levels, functions, culture, and geography
  • Possesses a clear understanding of strengths, limitations, emotions, beliefs, and motivations of self and others
  • Maintains composure and effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work tasks or the work environment
  • Adjusts effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures
  • Demonstrates an understanding of SECU’s culture, core values, mission and strategic priorities as it relates to one’s work and overall performance

Physical Requirements
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

Compensation Information: Offers will be commensurate with experience and education. The full Salary Range for this Grade is $73,800 – Max. $118,000, however we typically hire between the minimum and mid-point, which is $95,000 for this role.
