Sr. Partner Relationship Manager - State Agencies

Location: Linthicum, MD

SECU is seeking a Sr. Partner Relationship Manager to manage the relationship with Maryland State Agencies. This is a versatile, hybrid role with the flexibility to work remotely from a home-based office or from any SECU Financial Center. In addition to remote work and Financial Centers, this position requires travel to various offsite locations for partnership events and university activities.

The Sr. Partner Relationship Manager (PRM) of State Agencies will independently facilitate State Relationship business development activities within the 250 State Agencies in Maryland. Our objective is to financially educate, reengage, and inform Maryland State employees about the benefits they have access to, including membership access.

As a trusted advisor, the Sr. PRM will engage in consultative discussions with HR Agency managers and employees to identify suitable products and services, fostering mutually beneficial relationships. The Sr. PRM must adhere to state policies, collaborate with officials, and remain well-informed on relevant regulations during interactions. Acting as both a business product expert and a role model for member advisor roles, this individual will facilitate connections with the State of Maryland and its 250 governmental entities. While the Sr. PRM’s primary focus is State Agencies, they also support the Business Development team, contributing to the community and University teams in reaching their performance goals

Schedule: This role requires flexibility, as event times may vary from mornings to evenings, including weekends. The Sr. PRM may utilize scheduled time off to balance work and event commitments. Typically, events like tabling or networking occur from Tuesday to Saturday, though some may also be scheduled on Mondays and Sundays. Sr. PRMs have the ability to adjust their weekly schedules to support department and credit union needs, partnerships, and personal priorities, promoting a healthy work-life balance.

A day in your life might include:

Business Development

  • Develop and produce new member acquisition strategies through establishing new State partnerships and maintaining relationships with existing State ambassadors
  • Develop and produce new deposit relationships for SECU through outbound business development activities, including but not limited to SECU’s Bank at Work (BAW) program
  • Partner with retail leaders and relevant Line of Business partners to develop and maintain new membership streams through SECU’s BAW program and other initiatives
  • Maintain regular presence with State Partners through financial sessions, benefit fairs, community events and networking to consistently acquire new members to SECU to promote and execute SECU’s BAW and acquisition strategy
  • Support retail and LOB teams with education, training and coaching around all facets relative to partnering with State Agencies & aligning with SECU’s BAW strategy
  • Participate in networking events on a regular basis

Member Experience

  • Develop and maintain effective working partner relationships with State partners and ambassadors
  • Deliver exceptional member and employee experience the facilitation of SECU’s Bank at Work, Financial Education, and acquisition strategy
  • Conduct regular relationship management touch points with State agency ambassadors and internal partners to obtain feedback to incorporate into partner relationship maintenance and development

Operations & Compliance

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for all products and services, financial transactions, operating policies and procedures, and Patriot Act and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) rules and conditions

What we need from you:

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent experience preferred
  • Successful qualification and registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) is required for the negotiation of loan applications secured by real property

Experience Requirements

  • At least 5-7 years of management and banking sales experience required
  • MD State Industry Experience preferred
  • Outbound business development and sales experience, preferably in the financial services industry. An established book of business and/or robust network of COIs is preferred
  • Experience with effective and impactful sales, interviewing, and negotiation techniques to align with member needs

Compensation Information: Offers will be commensurate with experience and education. Please Note: We typically hire at or below mid-point of our salary ranges, which is $115,100 for this role.

  • Salary: Min. $88,500 – Max. $141,700
